Hau Tree Lanai

After hearing about their famous eggs benedicts, Hau Tree Lanai has been on my list of restaurants to visit.  I wish I had found an excuse to eat there earlier!  It is a lovely restaurant fronting the beach located in the New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel.  It offers an intimate setting with terrace style seating.

Although we were seated under the Hau tree and received some nice shade, it was still pretty warm.  I had an iced coffee and the Garden Benedict while my friends opted for sliders on the lunch menu.  We all enjoyed the food.  Our server was especially great!  Very friendly and attentive.  He even brought out a delicious slice of cheesecake to celebrate my birthday and didn't mind taking our picture.

Hawaii residents receive a special 15% discount for lunch and while it is valet only, I recommend finding metered parking right outside.  Even better on Sundays since it's free!

A New Monthly Event - Ward Village Courtyard Brunch

Yesterday I had the opportunity to attend the inaugural Ward Village Courtyard Brunch.

This new monthly event took place at the Ward Village Information Center Courtyard, which was beautifully transformed into a venue perfect for a Sunday brunch.

Loved the decor!

Tickets are just $20, which include 3 food tickets and 1 drink ticket.  Additional food tickets are available for purchase on site ($7 for food; $5 for drink).    A portion of the proceeds benefit the Ward Village Foundation and the local nonprofits they support.

Brunch tickets and menu
Every month there is a theme, and this month the theme was "Celebrating Women in Food." The line-up included Michelle Karr-Ueoka from MW Restaurant, Pastry Chef Jayme Vaniew from Morimoto Waikiki, the delicious food from Pig & The Lady, Co-owners Jill Nordby and Jamie Sexton of Holoholo General Store, Chef Gida Snyder from Naked Cow Dairy, and live entertainment from DJ Anit.

In addition to the delicious eats, there were breakfast cocktails, live entertainment, and a pop-up farmers market - all of which made for a fab brunch event.

The next brunch will be held on May 17.  Check back at Hawaii Mom Blog or the Ward Village Shops Events page for details!
