Visit LA: Street Churros

We were on our way to check out the souffle pancakes at Gram Cafe when we happened to spot Street Churros next door. After we found out we were 5th in line at the restaurant, we decided to satisfy our hunger with a pre-meal churro.

Street Churros opened its first store in Korea in 2014 and now has over 100 domestic and overseas stores! They specialize in hand-crafted and made-to-order churros. At the Monterey Park location, you self-order and check-out at one of their kiosks.  Your churro is then made to order.  We decided on the classic Street Churro - an authentic Spanish churro with healthy grain mixture.

It was huge! Perfect for sharing and for any Disneyland fan, you know it's a deal at $4.50. I loved the chewy texture. So delicious!

Order at one of the kiosks.

Cade for scale of the size of the churro.

Visit Barcelona: The 411 on Churros

Churros with a chocolate dipping sauce.
When my friend gave me dining recommendations for my family’s trip to Barcelona, I was super excited to see a place for churros.  We love churros, our fave being from Disneyland where we easily eat a couple of churros a day...each.

After walking back from La Sagrada Família, I spotted a churro shop called Xurreria La Sagrada Família and assumed it was a sister shop to the one that was recommended: Xurreria dels Banys Nous. I thought, how lucky as it was on our way. We bought a couple of filled churros and while I thought they were decent, I wasn’t super impressed which made me start to wonder if I had gotten it wrong. Sure enough, “xurreria” just means churro shop and the two churro shops were not related.

Xurreria dels Banys Nous was just minutes away from our hotel so my daughter and I made a churro run and oh my delicious goodness, we were beyond impressed. And dare I say it? Yes, the churros were more magical than Mickey’s. They were fresh, hot, and made our mouths tremendously happy. Lauren finished her two chocolate covered churros before we got back to the hotel, but we saved a couple of original churros for Cade. Mike was sleeping so he missed out, but he woke to rave reviews and so the next morning we returned to our favorite xurreria.  This time, we tried the churros with a chocolate dipping sauce. The chocolate was more like a pudding texture, but was very tasty!

Don’t to forget to bring your euros because this place is cash only.

Don’t make the same mistake as us. Be sure to visit this xurreria!
The churros are sold by weight and very inexpensive!
