Hanami Season in Tokyo

I have been very fortunate to visit Tokyo several times during Hanami Season.  It's hard not to squeal with delight when you're walking around and see the pretty blooms brightening up the landscape.

You can see hundreds of blooms in various wards simply just walking down the street, but if you prefer to go to popular viewing spots, be prepared for crowds.  It's totally worth it to brave the crowds though, because it's such a magical sight!

Visit Tokyo: Cherry Blossoms at Chidorigafuchi

Another spot we visited to view cherry blossoms was Chidorigafuchi.  The Chidorigafuchi Pedestrian Path is lined with cherry blossom trees, and the trees also flank the Hanzo Moat.

There were some people who found spots under the trees along the borders of the path to picnic, but for the most part, people simply walked the path to view the pretty blooms.

At one end of the path is a playground!

The kids were delighted to see a playground, and I was delighted that there were benches so I could rest my weary legs.

Chidorigafuchi is definitely a great spot for cherry blossom viewing!

Visit Tokyo: Cherry Blossoms at Mori Garden

Next to the towering Roppongi Hills is Mori Garden.

This quaint spot is pretty on any given day, but during cherry blossom season, it is especially charming.

Cherry blossom petals filled the pond, and there was something magical about the blooming trees fronting the towering buildings of Roppongi.

Mori Garden is definitely a picturesque spot, with lots of photo ops!

It was one of my favorite places to view the cherry blossoms!

Visit Tokyo: Cherry Blossoms at Ueno Park

During our trip to Tokyo, we found ourselves there right in the peak of cherry blossom season, so we knew a visit to Ueno Park was a must.

As expected, it was very crowded, with throngs of people walking the pathways, snapping photos, and picnicking under the blooms.

Since we had already been to a couple of other parks to visit the cherry blossoms, and my kids were not interested in seeing anymore, I bribed them with ice cream!

We later returned at night (after bribing the kids with baked treats) to see the cherry blossoms all lit up, but that evening the lanterns were not on.  I'm not sure if we were late, but we made the most of it, as they still looked pretty.

It was still very crowded at night, so no matter what time of day you go during cherry blossom season, expect crowds!

Visit Tokyo: Yoyogi Park

While near Harajuku, we made a quick stop at Yoyogi Park.

It's a large park with lots of places to sit and picnic.  You can also boat, barbecue, and play tennis.  There are food stands, shops, and restaurants on site.

While there, we went to look at the cherry blossoms.

At the park there are a lot of huge crows.  Listening to all of them was pretty eerie.

It was a nice park to visit, and I can imagine it would be even prettier when all of the trees are in full bloom!
