Lunch at Taps and Apps

Last week I met a friend at Taps and Apps to try out their lunch menu (the lunch menu is only available Monday through Friday).  I enjoyed most of the appetizers on their Apps menu, so I was eager to try lunch!

Soft Shell Crab Sandwich

I ordered the Portobello Sandwich, wish was very delicious.  The portobello mushroom was full of flavor, and it was topped with pesto, greens, mozzarella, and lots of caramelized onions.  I opted for a side of fries to go along with the sandwich, and it made for a hearty meal.

My friend ordered the Soft Shell Crab Sandwich with a side of House Salad.  She enjoyed the sandwich, but we were both unimpressed with the size of the salad.

The garlic cheese bread from the apps menu was pretty good, but I'd stick with other apps next time.

Service was great, and I hope they add a chicken sandwich to the menu, but even if they don't I'd gladly order the portobello sandwich again.

A new brewpub has opened up in Mililani - Taps and Apps, and it's a venue welcomed by those who live in the Central Oahu area who are looking for a great place for pau hana drinks and eats.

Taps and Apps offers 36 craft beers, as well as specialty cocktails, but I was most interested in the food.

My favorite app of those we ordered was the Crab Dip - such a creamy, flavorful dip.  And although I didn't try it - the T&A Burger - House Ground 100% Chuck Short Rib, Gruyere Cheese, Garlic Aioli - garnered rave reviews as well from those in my party.  

The fries were seasoned well and quite addicting, and I thought the pizza was pretty good too.

I didn't really care for the nachos - House Fried Potato Chips topped with cheese, shredded corned beef, and sauerkraut - it was the one dish that we had the most leftovers of.

It was a packed house (we arrived at 6:30pm - Happy Hour is M-F 3:30pm to 7:00pm), and although service was on the slow side, our server was very friendly and helpful.

Being that Taps and Apps just opened last month, I'm sure they're still working out some kinks, and I anticipate that the place will be steadily busy, as there is really no where like it in the Central Oahu area.

I can't wait to try out their lunch menu.
