Visit Sacramento: Savory Cafe

Searching online for a brunch spot in the Woodland area, I found Savory Cafe.

The cute, busy cafe offers a variety of brunch items on the weekends, including many Mexican dishes.

I had the Housemade Chorizo Burrito, which was stuffed with chorizo, scrambled eggs, cheddar, and potatoes.  It was served with sour cream and salsa.

I thought it was a tasty burrito, with a nice amount of filling. The eggs were fluffy and the chorizo added smokiness and spice.  The burrito was smaller than I expected it to be, but it was just the right size for my appetite.  

My friend had the Tri-Tip sandwich, which he thought was a bit under-seasoned, but was good overall. It was served with a side of Caesar, which he really loved, stating that the lettuce actually had flavor (vs just tasting like water as most lettuce does).

There are an abundance of farms in the area, so we were wondering if the lettuce was from a nearby farm.

Savory Cafe turned out to be a nice spot for brunch!

Visit Sacramento: Flamita de Oaxaca Tacos

Driving to the hotel we saw a tent with lights on the sidewalk. As we drove past, we noticed it was a food tent, so we found parking in the adjacent Walmart lot.

The Flamita de Oaxaca Tacos food tent was offering street tacos.  I was already full from a feast at Liholiho Yacht Club, but my friend decided to indulge.

We saw a few other families there (at 10pm at night!), so we knew it must be good.  

The Al Pastor tacos were just $3 a piece. The meat and pineapple was cooked right there on a spit, with a slew of condiments to add - salsa, onions, etc.

My friend enjoyed the tacos, and at $3 a piece, with all the condiments you want to add, you can't go wrong!  He liked the spice and really appreciated the authenticity.

Visit Sacramento: Stirred, Not Shaken

I’m always eager to find sweet shops, so when I Google-Mapped "cookies near me" and discovered Stirred, Not Shaken was mere steps away from where I was eating brunch, I made sure to stop in for cookies.

They had a pretty large variety of cookie flavors to choose from.

Chocolate Chip, Snickerdoodle, Confetti, S'Mores, M&M's 

I bought 6 cookies - 5 of which the friendly employee so kindly put in a box and wrapped for me for the journey back home (the cookies made it back to Hawai`i intact).

I ate the Dark Chocolate Chip + Sea Salt as soon as I stepped out of the shop.

It was slightly crispy on the edges, and nice and soft in the middle. In other words, it was pretty perfect. The chocolate and sea salt balanced out each other nicely. It was a great cookie!
