Nami Kaze

I love it when friends want to dine at Nami Kaze Hawaii, a restaurant serving Japanese-American cuisine by Chef Jason Peel. I am very happily making my way through both the brunch and dinner menus.

The dinner menu is izakaya style so lots of small dishes that are perfect for sharing. I started with the Island Cheer white sangria made with white wine, Bombay East, orange brandy, and tropical fruits. It was a light and refreshing drink. For appetizer, we ordered the Corn Beignets which comes with six nice and crispy beignets served with a delicious Japanese curry salt and kewpie. I really liked the curry salt!

We also had the octopus which was lovely as well as the Hamachi Roll and Sashimi Moriawase. The Hamachi Roll is a lobster mix with cucumber, yuzu gel, charred green onion, and jalapeno ume salt. Very tasty. The sashimi platter was gorgeous with three pieces each of five types of fresh local and Japan fish. A must-have for the sushi lover.

It was another delicious time at Nami Kaze! Service is always great and friendly. The only thing I don't love is that I find the tables too close together in the back room so maybe next time I will try to request a table in the main dining area. Nami Kaze is open Wednesday through Sunday for brunch and dinner service. They also provide catering services.
