Weekend Tasty Tidbits: Smashburger, Thai Food, Sushi, and More

It was a busy weekend filled with tasty tidbits from some of my favorite food places, and a new place as well.

The Munchie Machine, which used to serve their mouthwatering smashburgers out of their food truck in Mapunapuna five days a week, is now doing pop-ups at various events around the island. I found them at the Maʻemaʻe Elementary School's annual Family Night, and I was so excited to see them! Their smashburgers are juicy, crisp on the outside, and I love their tasty sauces. Follow them @the.munchie.machine to find out where they'll be popping up next.

On Saturday night, I was in the mood for Chinese food, so I picked up a one-entrée plate from Chinatown Express in Windward Mall. Their portions are generous, and their food is more authentic than Panda Express. They also have a few dim sum items like char siu bau, pork hash, jin dui, and rice cake! You can find them in Windward Mall's food court.

While food shopping at Don Quijote, my stomach started growling from hunger. And you know the saying - never go food shopping on an empty stomach! Well I tried my hardest to pick up something that was relatively healthy-ish and that I could eat on the go, so I chose this teri mayo salmon nigiri set. For $14.99, I got 10 pieces of cooked salmon nigiri, topped with teriyaki sauce, sesame seeds, and mayo - delicious!!

And since I needed to pick up something for my mom, I ordered Spring Rolls and Pad Thai with shrimp from Thai Taste, one of the food stalls outside of Don Quijote. It's a decent option if you're shopping at DQ and craving Thai food. I felt the portions were a little small for the price.

Since this week is Teacher's Appreciation Week and Mother's Day is this weekend, I stopped by Nordstroms to pick up some goodies for the boys' teachers, and for myself, since I am a mom. :)

Coco's Cravings recently debuted a new flavor of cocobonz (sweet milk bread rolls) - BLUEBERRY! The classic cinnamon flavor is still my favorite, but this new Blueberry flavor comes in second!. It consists of homemade blueberry cheesecake filling rolled in milk bread dough, layered with original froting, and draped with fresh homemade blueberry compote. I also picked up some lemon crumbarz, which I forgot to take a picture of.

After I picked up my goods from Coco's Cravings, I headed one table over and discovered @creations_by_mommy_aumotoyumi's decorated cookies. She had a lot of different school-themed decorated cookies that were super cute!!  I went to her Instagram page to learn more about her, and I discovered that she works full time, has three kids (twins + 1), and does this all as a side hustle. She's also booked through mid-July. Well I can see why with all of that on her plate! If you're looking for custom cookies for an occasion occurring after July, hit her up!
