Visit Hilo: Miyo's Restaurant

The first time I tried Miyo's Restaurant, it was via take-out, and I honestly wasn't very impressed.  I thought the food was good, but I felt it was overpriced for what we got.

After reading Nat's post about Miyo's and seeing @sfdhawaii's reel on IG, I decided to give it another try, and this time I dined in.

Miso Soup

Chicken Katsu Curry
I had the Chicken Katsu Curry.  It was an enormous portion (a friend called it a "trough" of curry), and although I thought the katsu was underseasoned, I really enjoyed the curry.  I would've been happy without the chicken - the curry and rice was pretty satisfying, especially with all the veggies.

Combination A
The Combination A came with shrimp and vegetable tempura + sashimi, as well as rice and salad.

My friend thought everything was delicious, and the tempura was perfectly cooked.

Service-wise, it was a mixed bag.  Our servers were really friendly, but the food took a while (one of the servers had to apologize for the wait as others who were seated after us got their food), and another server brought out my friend's rice and dipping sauce 15 minutes before the entree arrived, which resulted in the rice and sauce getting cold (another server promptly replaced them).

Despite that, it was a nice dinner, and I'm glad I gave Miyo's a second try.

Note - outdoor seating is available, but drinking alcohol is prohibited outside.
