Mini Food Crawl in Kaimuki

Food crawls, remember those? It's where foodies would gather in a neighborhood and enjoy a dish or two at several places within walking distance. Kaimuki is a great place to do a food crawl, because there are a lot of great eateries located in close proximity to one another.

After completing a big project the hubby and I have been working on for weeks, we decided to reward ourselves with what turned into a spontaneous mini food crawl along 12th avenue in Kaimuki.

Our first stop was for lunch at 12th Avenue Grill.  We shared their Maui Cattle CO. burger with house fries and the Garlic-Lime Fried Chicken Hot Plate.

Both dishes were amazing and highly recommended! The house fries are a must.

The garlic-lime fried chicken came with two large, plump pieces of boneless chicken thighs, covered with a buttermilk batter.  It was crispy on the outside, moist on the inside.

Although we were quite stuffed from our lunch, we were craving something cold and sweet, so we walked down the same street to Via Gelato.  We were happy to see that they have opened up their dining area so that we could enjoy our gelato on the spot in a/c!

After enjoying our cookies and cream and fudge swirl gelato cup, we stopped at Chocolate + Vanilla Bakery (also located 12th Avenue!) to get some dessert to enjoy later that evening. It took me a while to decide on what to get because their case was fully stocked with different flavors of bread pudding, scones, and mochi.

The blueberry bread pudding was calling my name, so that's what I ended up taking home, and the piece was so big and thick that it took me two days to finish it!

I forgot how fun food crawls can be. I can't wait to do this again!
