MW Restaurant & Artizen by MW Announce Move to Velocity Honolulu

JN Group, Wade Ueoka and Michelle Karr-Ueoka today announced MW Restaurant will relocate and Artizen by MW will reopen at Velocity Honolulu in the Symphony building on the corner of Ward Avenue and Kapiolani Boulevard. The full-service, dine-in MW Restaurant, currently on Kapiolani Boulevard, will replace Viaggio Honolulu on the second floor. The casual dining restaurant Artizen by MW, previously at the Hawaii State Art Museum, will occupy a spacious ground floor area.

The pairing of MW and Artizen with Velocity Honolulu brings together both restaurants’ innovative cuisine with the world’s most renowned luxury automotive brands, unique retail and services all under one roof. MW Restaurant is known for its creative and upscale take on Hawaii Regional Cuisine served in a modern and welcoming atmosphere, and will add to Velocity’s portfolio, giving guests new experiences in a sleek yet comfortable environment.

“We feel very fortunate for the opportunity to bring MW and Artizen to a new home, one that allows us to have both restaurants in one space,” said Michelle Karr-Ueoka, chef and co-owner of MW and Artizen, “This past year has been a roller-coaster and we are so thankful for the support we’ve received from our customers. We can’t wait to welcome them back in a fresh space, with new offerings and signature dishes.”

“MW Restaurant and Artizen by MW are a perfect fit with Velocity Honolulu’s upscale but approachable space,” said Brad Nicolai, president and CEO of JN Group. “The attention to service that Wade and Michelle deliver is the perfect complement to the one-of-a-kind experiences that our guests have come to expect at Velocity.”

When it opens in late January 2021, Artizen by MW will offer to-go lunch and dinner options and marketplace items supplied by local farmers, similar to the items MW offers today on its current takeout-only menu. New to Artizen will be casual breakfast menu items including pastries made with fresh, local ingredients. Upstairs, MW Restaurant will offer a more refined and contemporary approach to its current menu, but guests can expect to see fan favorites such as mochi-crusted fish and popular dessert items. Both will feature a new happy hour menu, featuring brand new bar spaces in each location. MW Restaurant will close its current location on December 31 and will open for dine-in service at Velocity Honolulu in February 2021.
