Redfish Poke Bar Opens Today

Redfish Poke Bar by Foodland opens today at SALT at Our Kaka`ako!

I was fortunate to have attended a media preview a couple of days ago, and I'm already eager to return.
Walk into the eatery, and you'll be greeted by more than two dozen different types of poke at the Poke Counter, where you can create your own poke bowls and choose from a number of different sides and toppings.

Can't decide?  Order one of the Signature Bowls - Kanak Attack, Rising Sun, Seoul Bowl.

Besides a fabulous selection of fresh poke (including beet and tofu poke for those who do not eat seafood), guests can venture beyond the counter to the 36-seat restaurant and lounge, where Redfish Poke Bar boasts a menu full of delicious local-style eats and an amazing array of cocktails.

According to a press release:
The culinary team at Redfish is led by Oahu born-and-raised Chef de Cuisine Reid Matsumura, who also crafted the eatery’s tempting and tasty menu of small and medium bites...
“In creating the restaurant menu, the path we followed was respecting the food, dishes and flavors that people in Hawaii are always ono for, using the freshest ingredients we can get, and mindfully putting together every plate,” said Matsumura. “We’re looking forward to seeing how customers respond to this new concept, what dishes become their favorites, and how much they enjoy eating, drinking and unwinding here with us. I also want to see how customers react to the vast amount of poke creations and options we have ready for them as soon as they walk in!”

At the event we were able to try a few of the menu items.  I loved the Kalua Pig Fried Rice, especially the addition of the Lomi Tomato, and I also loved the Lechon Kawali  the Nuoc Cham Sauce was delish!

The Lemongrass Chicken that topped the Tan Tan noodles was full of flavor.
Malasada Bites
My favorite dish of the night, however, was dessert.  I'm not a huge fan of malasada, but the Malasada Bites were divine!

We also had a chance to try some of the cocktails, and I just have three words: ROCK SALT PLUM.  One of my favorite new cocktails, this drink took me back to my childhood.

I'm excited to return to try the rest of the menu, and drink more Rock Salt Plum!
