Visit Big Island: Two Ladies Kitchen

Lots of prepackaged mochi bentos for purchase

If you ever make it to Hilo, be sure not to go on Sunday or Monday when Two Ladies Kitchen is NOT open because you will miss out on some of the best mochi EVER.

We arrived after lunch on a Saturday afternoon and were a bit overwhelmed with the menu choices.  They had ones that I recognized: strawberry mochi, peanut butter, brownies and more that I didn’t: mochi with grape, pear, strawberry shortcake, mandarin orange, and even ones with poha berry!

Since we wouldn’t be able to refrigerate our mochi, we each bought two pieces.  It was an hour drive to Punaluu Black Sand Beach and when we parked, I inhaled my strawberry mochi.  There was not even time for a picture.  I’ve had the strawberry mochi before when someone brought it home, but it was so much better that day straight from the shop.

Their strawberry mochi is so popular it’s best to pre-order as they usually run out.  Cash only!  A must stop if you love mochi or know someone that does!!  Open Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 5pm.
