Celebrating at Kona Grill - Waikiki

My hubby's birthday was approaching, and I wanted to take him to a restaurant we had never visited before. After reading Gem's post about the wonderful food, service, and $8 kids meals at Kona Grill - Waikiki, I booked a reservation for the four of us for lunch.

Kona Grill - Waikiki is located in the new International Marketplace (IMP) in the heart of Waikiki. The nice thing about IMP is that they have a large, spacious parking garage for customers. We had our choice of parking stall near the elevators and after a short walk from the elevators, we were at the entrance to the restaurant.

While we waited for the restaurant to open, the boys were drawn to the Kona Grill sign in the open bar area. They saw the water but couldn't figure out why they couldn't touch it!

Once seated, we put in our orders for the boys (they were hungry!). Kona Grill has an impressive kids menu (for kids 12 and under) - for $8, you get your choice of entree, two sides, and juice, milk, or soda. Pizza is also available ala carte (served w/o sides).

For our two boys, we ordered one complete meal (chicken tenders w/fried rice and french fries), and one cheese pizza.  I was really impressed with the quality, quantity, and presentation of the kids meals.

I had a taste of each thing on their plates and it was delicious.  Kids eat just as well as the adults at Kona Grill.

Not soon after the kids meals arrived, the adult food arrived.

Since I had signed up for the Konavore newsletter, I had a coupon for a free appetizer. We opted for the taco trio which was a great choice for a starter.

The hubby enjoyed the jambalaya - lots of spice and flavor.

Since it was lunch time, I ordered the cuban sandwich which was very meaty and filling.  I ended up taking half of the sandwich home because I wanted to save room for dessert.

The restaurant provided a lovely creme brulee with a candle for the birthday boy.

We were impressed with the quick and professional service, along with the delicious meal. We will definitely return to try more things on the menu!
