Visit Kauai: Tidepools at the Grand Hyatt Kauai

Built atop of a koi-filled lagoon at the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa is Tidepools, an award-winning restaurant at which our family dined at for a wedding dinner.

The adults ordered from a set menu which included an appetizer, salad, entree (choice of Hawaiian Catch or Surf & Turf), and dessert.  Keiki menus were given to the kids.

Complimentary Rolls with Garlic Truffle Butter
Keiki House Made Mac & Cheese

Jumbo Lump Crab Cake
Kawailoa Greens Salad
Hawaiian Catch
Surf and Turf
The Jumbo Lump Crab Cake was very good.  It was served with a Basil Aioli, Tomato-Ginger Relish, and Avocado Mousse.  I never had a Crab Cake that was accompanied by such a variety of different condiments, but I was pleasantly surprised with how delicious everything was with the Crab Cake.

The Salad was beautiful.  A slice of Local Cucumber was wrapped around Kawailoa Greens, and served with Big Island Hearts of Palm, Mango, Artichoke, Blackened Pecans, and Surfing Goat Chevre.  It was a delightful salad with a variety of textures and flavors that worked well together.

I opted for the Hawaiian Catch - Soy Ginger Crusted Monchong, Kona Lobster, and Coconut Shrimp Cake.  I thought the fish was flavorful, but overcooked (my husband even commented that it was dry when he took a bite).  The Coconut Shrimp was my favorite part of the dish, and it contrasted nicely with the Yama Sweet Potato.

The Surf and Turf consisted of Filet Mignon and Pacific Prawns, along with Maui Lavender Surfing Goat Whipped Potatoes and a Kabayaki Butter Sauce.

A keiki menu is offered, but does not include any drinks or desserts.  All of my kids ordered the House Made Mac & Cheese, and they were a little startled to see such huge pasta shells, but they loved it.

The menu also included a Wailua Chocolate Crunch dessert, but instead we each had a slice of a yummy Strawberry Shortcake wedding cake.

The service and food were great, and the ambience was just beautiful.

It was a lovely dinner for a lovely couple!
