Visit Hawaii Island: Stay at the Stunning Four Seasons Resort Hualalai at Historic Ka'upulehu

*I apologize ahead of time for the overuse of the word amazing.*

I had been dreaming about a stay at the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai at Historic Ka'upulehu for as long as I can remember, but two little reasons kept me deterred.  Their names are Lauren and Cade, ages 8 and 4, who although have their sweet moments are better known for misbehaving – at least not the kind of behaving parents want to deal with at a five star resort.  It wasn’t until I read Hawaii Mom Blog founder, Gem’s review detailing the amazing time she and her husband, along with their three boys had, that I thought: okay, there’s hope!
But then, my husband and I had an even better idea.  We’d go together to celebrate 11 years of marriage.  Not feeling a bit guilty (at all) we dropped the kids off with the grandparents and headed to the much dreamt about resort.  I couldn’t contain my excitement as we drove up to the property and were immediately greeted.  At check-in we relaxed in the beautiful open-air lobby and sipped on rum punch.  We were then whisked away and given a tour of the property.  The service here is truly first class.  We were made to feel so welcomed.
This is what checking in at the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai looks like.

My husband and I were beyond words when we discovered we were generously upgraded to a Prime Ocean View Deluxe Suite.  With the exception of our wedding night (11 years ago!) it was the largest suite (1,441 square feet!) we had ever stayed in and it was certainly the most amazing (no exceptions)!  In the living area there was a bottle of champagne and a note from the resort manager welcoming us and wishing us a Happy Anniversary.  It was such a nice and thoughtful gesture.  It made us feel so special and was a fabulous start to our weekend (sans children) getaway.

What an awesome welcome gift!

Large and spacious sitting area.

This is only half of the lanai!

The breathtaking view from our room.

From the bedroom, you can walk directly onto the lanai.

The full granite bathroom is complete with a deep soak tub, walk in shower, and his and her sinks.

The suite also had a guest powder room with a steam shower.  We used any excuse we could to use the steam shower.  Loved it!

After walking along the resort, we had a delicious steak dinner at the Hualalai Grille.  The next morning we had an amazing breakfast at ‘ULU Ocean Grill where we sat in awe of the view.  The resort’s shoreline is breathtaking and my husband and I felt like the luckiest people in the world to be able to enjoy a view like that.

After we spent some time at the pool and then a cabana fronting the ocean, I left to be treated at the spa and my husband headed over to the fitness center.  Afterwards, my husband took me to watch what he called “the fight of our lifetime” between Mayweather and Pacquio back at the Hualalai Grille.  Although we were there to celebrate our marriage, I compromised (that’s what marriage is about after all – right?) and accompanied him, even though boxing doesn’t even come close to the list of 100 things I wish I was doing at a luxurious resort staycation.  We finished the evening with a late night anniversary dinner at ‘ULU Ocean Grill where we had the most amazing chocolate soufflé.

Every view at the Four Seasons Hualalai was beautiful.

Morning sunrise.

Relaxed at the Beach Tree Pool, one of the resort's quiet pools.
Even the fitness pool is gorgeous.
Loved having my massage outdoors.

With our package, we received appetizers and drinks.  Turned out to be a lot of fun despite the fight's outcome.

Our last morning we made it back to ‘ULU for breakfast where we relaxed over magical 100% Kona Coffee and the best Meyer lemon ricotta pancakes this girl has ever had.  We attempted to commit the ocean view to our memories.  We were very sad to leave the incredible resort, but when I arrived home, I was definitely a much more relaxed and stress free version of myself.  The two night trip rejuvenated and recharged me.  I would highly recommend a stay at the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai to anyone and although I checked it off my bucket list, a vacation at the resort will always top my wish list.

I'll always happily remember our 11th anniversary weekend.

Thank you to the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai for the amazing room upgrade.
