Panya Bistro at Hokua

After some shopping in Ward Village, I met some friends for dinner at Panya Bistro at Hokua.
Seafood Laksa
Japanese Curry with Mushrooms, Chicken Karaage, Rice
"Panya" Ginger Chicken

Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich
Japanese Cheese Cake
Hokkaido Bread Pudding

I had the "Panya" Ginger Chicken, which is essentially a ginger green onion sauce over pan-fried chicken thighs. The chicken seemed to taste under-seasoned, but the ginger sauce was very flavorful, and overall I enjoyed it.

The desserts were delicious. I had a bite of the Japanese Cheese Cake, which was very light. The Hokkaido Bread Pudding was light as well, and although I prefer bread puddings that are dense, I still thought this bread pudding was very good.

Everyone else thought their meals were really good.

Unfortunately, although service was friendly, it was very slow - there was a long wait to get our orders taken, a friend refilled her own water, and another asked for a drink, but never got it so had to ask for it again. Those were just a few examples of the generally slow service.

However, because I thought the food was good I'd definitely give them another try, and hopefully the service is much better the next time around.
