Last night, with a bit of time to pass while the boys were at their scout meeting, we found ourselves wandering around the Ward area. I needed to pick up a gift card at Roger Dunn, and as we pulled into the Ward Centre parking lot, Mian & Bao caught my eye. We weren’t super hungry—just in the mood for a little something to snack on. So we figured, why not?
The space has a cozy, modern vibe and the staff greeted us with warm, friendly smiles (not always the case at a Chinese restaurant!). We decided to keep it simple and try two things: their Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings) and the stir-fried shrimp noodles—because if there’s shrimp on the menu, we’re usually saying yes to it.
The dumplings came out piping hot, just the way they should, and packed with flavor. The broth inside was rich and savory, and the dumpling skin was tender but held together nicely—definitely satisfying!
As for the shrimp noodles, they were a great surprise. Perfectly cooked with a bit of that delicious wok hei flavor. I just wish they would have added more shrimp.

It was just a quick visit, but we were really impressed with the quality of the food and the laid-back, friendly service. I’m already looking forward to coming back and trying more from their menu—especially if the rest of the dishes are anything like what we had.
