Local Grindz at Beastside Kitchen

Beatside Kitchen, which started as a pop up tent in Waimanlo, opened their first brick and mortar in Niu Valley Shopping Center in October 2022. I've been wanting to try this place because I heard their fried chicken was good. We don't come to the east side very often, but since we were in Hawaii Kai for a soccer game, on the way back into town we stopped at Beastside Kitchen for lunch with some of our teammates.

We ordered a bunch of different dishes to share -- it's definitely best to go family style here because there are so many enticing items on the menu. Here's what we all shared:

Kailua tempura bites

garlic umami shrimp plate

smoked bbq pork belly

Beastside Platter (daily special)

guava bbq fried chicken

garlic umami fries

umami fried rice

chicken tenders (keiki menu)

My favorite dishes from today were the garlic umami fries, guava bbq fried chicken, Beastside platter, tempura bites, and the garlic umami shrimp. The fried rice was too moist for my liking, and I didn't try the smoked bbq pork belly (although pork belly is what they're known for!). The kids liked the chicken tenders (which comes with a soft drink). On the way out they had a display case of butter mochi, which the cashier said was very popular here. I'll have to try some on our next visit.

Open 7 days a week!
