Popular Ramen from Hokkaido now through July 30 at International Market Place: Hokkaido Ramen Festival

From now until July 30, you can experience some of Hokkaido's most popular ramen-ya's at the Hokkaido Ramen Festival at Mitsuwa Marketplace in the International Market Place.

Every two weeks, three restaurants from Hokkaido will be featured.

I entered one of their contests on Instagram and won a free bowl of ramen, so I met a friend for lunch one Friday afternoon to sample some of the offerings.

The Festival is located in Mitsuwa Marketplace (2nd floor of IMP), in the back of the market. Look for the signs!

The menu has pictures of the items, which is really helpful. I came during the first two weeks, which featured Niseko Ramen Tokin, Yukiguni Story, and Sapporo Ramen Sanomaru.

Here's what we ordered today:

Brown Soy Sauce ramen

Spicy Miso

Hokkaido Fried Chicken

Gyoza

The prices are very reasonable considering these vendors are from Japan, and that this is located in Waikiki (tourist district!). The nice thing about the Festival is that the vendors switch out every two weeks, so you can come every two weeks to try new ramen flavors and dishes. The bad thing about this is if there's something you really like, you can only get it for two weeks, and then it's gone!

Parking is free for the first hour with validation (ask the cashier to validate your ticket when you order/pay). The service is fast, so you can easily get in and out in less than an hour. You can also pick up your favorite Japanese snacks, candy, and other products at Mitsuwa market on your way out.

Follow the Festival on Instagram for updates: @hokaidoramenfest2023!
