Dinner at New Truffle Restaurant Margotto Hawaii

Presentation of truffles

Japan's Margotto e Baciare Group opened Margotto Hawaii in June.  The truffle centric French-Japanese restaurant has generated much buzz among Hawaii's foodies who want to experience the finest truffles from around the world.  To be honest, I wasn't confident I would love Margotto only because I am not big on truffles, but I am glad I tried because it was one of my favorite meals this year.

Our table of 4 had the signature degustation meal of 7-8 courses priced at $100 per person with the option of an additional caviar course and upgrading our pork course to the A5 Wagyu.  There is also the truffles supplement based on weight and market price.  The recommendation was 20 grams of truffle per person, approximately $75.  However, we decided to share one truffle for the table which was perfect for me.  For truffle fans, you probably should get your own.

I am not exaggerating when I say I loved everything because I did.  Each dish was delicious and I enjoyed the flavors which were kept simple so the truffle was enhanced.  My very favorite dishes were the Mushroom, Waimanalo TKG Egg, Pasta, and the Akitakomachi.

The experience at Margotto is very special and I highly recommend you to try it.  The restaurant has an amazing wine program and they are Hawaii's first Krug Ambassador.  They have also recently launched a series of special dinners with Master Sommelier Chuck Furuya called "Chuck's Supper Club."
