Visit San Antonio: San Antonio Missions National Historical Park

The San Antonio Missions National Historical Park allows guests a peek into life hundreds of years ago, when Spanish Colonial Missions housed South Texas natives who found a new way of life.

This National Historical Park spans over miles, with four different Missions - Mission Concepcion, Mission San Jose, Mission San Juan, and Mission Espada.

We visited the Mission San Jose, which is where the Visitor Center is also located.

At each of these Missions, a melding of cultures resulted as a new religion, farming methods, and even a new language were introduced.

The San Antonio Missions National Historical Park gives us a glimpse into what life was like and how these people lived.

It was amazing to see the different structures and how they were crafted.  My kids saw what people used to cook, get water, and even sleep, and seeing how minimal the abodes were gave us an appreciation for what we have today.

On the grounds is a beautiful church, which is still active.

There are Park Rangers on site to provide more information, and I heard one passerby say that the Park Rangers are excellent there.

The park is free to enter; donations are welcome at the church.
