Paradise Poke

One of my current favorite go-to places for poke bowls is Paradise Poke. They are located in Nuuanu Shopping Plaza (more commonly known as the shopping center where Hungry Lion Coffee Shop used to be), which is 5 minutes from downtown Honolulu. They feature poke made with fresh fish (straight from the boats), which explains the jaw-dropping price per pound for their poke. (shoyu ahi is currently $31.99 per pound). You don't feel the sticker shock as much if you buy the one or two choice poke bowls (prices start at $13.39 for one choice; $16.48 for two choice), which comes with ginger, ocean salad and and premium grade rice (sushi rice is available for an extra charge).

Aside from their ultra-fresh poke, they also offer assorted musubis, plates (short ribs, baked salmon, garlic shrimp) and a nice selection of grab n go items, locally sourced and imported.  I can't resist their gluten free breads and cookies from P'uwai Aloha Bakery, and desserts from Lanakila Kitchen. And on my most recent visit, I tried a can of seaweed flavor Lay's Chips (imported from China), which are highly addictive.
