Muriel Miura’s Home Cooking Hawai`i-Style Review

Disclosure: Complimentary product was received for review purposes.

I recently received a copy of Muriel Miura's Home Cooking, Hawai`i - Style, just in time for the holiday season.  Whether or not you plan to gather with loved ones, or even if you're looking for a special gift, this cookbook offers a nice variety of recipes perfect for any occassion.

There are local dinner staples (Teriyaki Chicken), potluck faves (Teriyaki Spam Musubi), and of course, sweets (Broken Glass Gelatin).

The recipes are fairly simple, which I love - I definitely pass on a recipe when I see that the ingredient list or process is lengthy, but this cookbook is filled with recipes that are not complex, many of which use common ingredients - perfect for those who are short on time, money, or even cooking skills.

Most people who grew up in Hawai`i have made or eaten a majority of the dishes in this cookbook, and I decided to try something I have never actually made or eaten - Dutch Baby Oven Pancake!

I didn't realize how easy this was to make - just a few staple ingredients, and it was such a treat!  We had breakfast for dinner, and the kids loved it!

Muriel Miura's Home Cooking Hawai`i-Style Cookbook includes many photos of finished dishes (I do wish there were photos of every dish), and it truly is a great cookbook to have on hand for familiar comfort food faves.

You can order Muriel Miura's Home Cooking Hawai`i-Style cookbook here on Mutual Publishing.

  1. Hi:)
I was fortunate to meet Muriel and she was as warm and lovely as her recipes.

Btw you can get super puff babies by doing smaller individual batches..using custard cups .
I did a potluck dessert and baked for dessert there..diy toppings!:)

    1. That is so cool! And thanks for the tip on the smaller batches - maybe I'll try that! Such a great idea!
