Visit Big Island: FORC Restaurant

FORC (Farmer Ocean Rancher Cook) Restaurant opened up in Waimea earlier this year, and I couldn't wait to give it a try.

The menu offerings feature a lot of locally-sourced ingredients, and I thoroughly enjoyed the flavors and thoughtful presentations.

Ho`i`o Salad

I love Ho`i`o salads, and this common local salad was very traditional in flavors.

Pickled Vegetables

Fresh Baked Portuguese Bread with Bone Marrow Butter

If you love carbs, get the Portuguese Bread and don't skip on the Bone Marrow Butter!

Tomato Salad

The Tomato Salad was refreshing, with a Li Hing Mui vinaigrette.  This dish is a nod to Chef Alan Wong, whom FORC Chef and Owner, Allen Hess, used to work for.

Garlic Fried Rice

The Garlic Fried Rice was very tasty.  I could definitely eat this alone as a mini meal!

Goat Tacos

Smoked Meat and Onions

When I ordered Smoked Meat and Onions, I pictured the typical plate of sliced smoked pork and onions.  However, an entire pork chop and and onion was presented - what a fun play on words!

I'm not a huge pork chop fan, but I loved how tender and juicy the pork was.

Ali`i Mushroom Poke

The Mushroom Poke is a must for those who don't eat raw fish, and especially for those who love mushrooms!

Portuguese Steamed Clams

The Clams were absolutely delish, and that broth was so amazing (tip: dip the Portuguese Bread in the broth - so yummy!).

Liliko`i Crunch Cake

The dessert options were limited, but the Liliko`i Crunch Cake was good.

I highly recommend paying FORC a visit for a delicious meal.

Thank you, Chef Allen, for the hospitality!
