Visit Big Island: Meridia

Mediterranean cuisine is one of my favorites, so I was eager to try out Meridia at the Westin Hapuna Resort.

Complimentary Bread

Stuffed Piquillos

I really enjoyed the Stuffed Piquillos, which had a delightful combination of flavors and textures. Punachicks chicken, almonds, dried mango, Manchego cheese, and a vibrant tomatillo sauce melded together for a tasty sweet and savory combo.

Grilled Octopus

The octopus was cooked perfectly - nice and tender!

Big Island Wild Boar Ragu

I loved the ragu, which consisted of tender, flavorful pork mixed with house made pappardelle.  Goat cheese Parmesan finished off the dish.

Seared Scallops

Seared Scallops were presented atop crispy fideo and a spicy tomato sauce.

Spanish Cheesecake

The Spanish Cheesecake is similar in texture to Japanese cheesecake, but slightly more dense.  I prefer dense cheesecakes over lighter ones, but I really liked this Spanish Cheesecake, which was drizzled with honey from the restaurant's garden. It was a fabulous way to end a nice meal at Meridia.
