et al. at Kahala MKT

Et al. just opened in Kahala MKT a few days ago, and I went on the second day of business to see what the hype was all about. During the week leading up to the grand opening, I saw picture after picture of et al's offerings from food bloggers and social media mavens, and while I tend not to visit restaurants when they first open, I gave in to the teasers and booked a reservation for three on Opentable.

Here's what we tried:

house salad

short rib arancini

lobster roll

cremini mushroom pizza

Pier 38 catch (today's catch - monchong)

Considering this was the second day of regular business, we were pleased with the service and the food. The short rib arancini was highly recommended and it did not disappoint. The lobster roll was good too, although it seems like the piece of lettuce was a tad disproportionate in size. I wouldn't say it's the best lobster roll in town, but I still consider it a good sammie.  We really liked the chips!  The Pier 38 Catch is a good option if you're looking for something that's not going to give you a kanak attach afterwards.

The only disappointment is the dessert selection during lunch service. The options were gelato, sorbet, or brownie ala mode. I really wanted to try the chocolate PB textures that everyone says is like a snickers bar on steroids. Maybe they'll ramp up the desserts on the lunch menu at a later date.

Reservations are highly recommended and can be made through OpenTable. Click here to find your table!
