Visit Hilo: Cronies Bar & Grill

When I visited Cronies Bar & Grill, I was bummed that I missed the Mauna Loa Cheese Fries on the menu - fries with bacon, cheese, and gravy.

I made sure to order it recently when I made a take-out order.

Mauna Loa Gravy Cheese Fries
Unfortunately, they forgot to put any cheese!  What a disappointment.  I got a call right before we were to pick up the food, and was told they ran out of the Fried Mozzarella Bites pieces that they usually put on, and they said they could put in extra fries and shredded cheddar cheese.  I said "Sure!"

But there was zero cheese.  Bummer.
Kalua Nachos
Fortunately, the nachos were really good (made with Maebo Noodle Factory One-Ton Chips). I ate almost the entire serving myself!

A friend of mine who ordered the Mushroom & Swiss Burger, was severely disappointed after taking a bite out of it.  He thinks Cronies has the best burgers, but on this occasion, he could taste fish (the grill wasn't cleaned after cooking fish).  Bite after bite, he complained of tasting fish (he's a respectable, well-known Chef, so I know he wasn't making it up).

If it weren't for the burger and the fries, we would've had a great take-out experience!
