22Kailua is operating through the current state-mandatedshelter in place order, offering a limited menu of bentos, only available by pre-order. They have a base menu of three bentos, plus specials announced periodically via social media.
That is how I found out about their tempura donburi.
I sent a private message to the restaurant on Instagram, specifying my order and pick up time (11 am - 3 pm or 5 pm - 7 pm). Payment (cash or credit card) was made at time of pick up.
The tempura was excellent, even as a take-out order (tempura is always best consumed right out of the deep fryer, but this is the next best thing). Each piece was lightly battered and not greasy. Rice was packed in a separate container with a light sprinkle of tempura flakes, and a small serving of chawanmushi.
