Visit Big Island: Pau

While passing through Waimea one day, I noticed a sign for Pau - a sign I had never noticed before.  We ended up ordering lunch from there, and it turned out to be such a great idea.

Specializing in pizzas, Pau also offers sandwiches, salads, and a few entree and dessert specialties.

Caesar Salad

Greek Salad

Whole Hog

Hamakua

The Whole Hog Pizza consisted of pepperoni, ham, salami, Italian sausage, and bacon.  If you love meat, you will love this pizza.

My fave of the two pizzas was the Hamakua pizza, which was topped with mushroom, bacon, roasted garlic, caramelized onion, and spinach.  I loved the sweet, caramelized onions and the crispy bacon.

The salads were good, and the Grinder Melt got raves (it was filled with turkey, salami, ham, caramelized onions, pepperoncini, melted cheese, local lettuce, and tomato).

Pau was definitely a welcomed find!
