Fab Food Offerings at Iolani Fair 2018 April 20 and 21

The Iolani Fair 2018: Dino Days is coming up April 20 and 21!

At the Iolani Fair, guests can go on thrill rides, enter a talent contest, play midway games, and even watch live chef demos, but what I'm looking forward to most - eating fair food!

The Iolani Fair, which makes over 33,000 malasadas and over 9,000 cookies for the General Store, offers more than just your typical pizzas and burgers (not that there's anything wrong with pizzas and burgers!).

I was fortunate to have sampled a few classic food booth offerings that will be made available at the 2018 Iolani Fair, as well as try some brand new dishes!

Nacho Dog

Kimchi Dog

Okonomiyaki Dog

Huli Cheesesteak Sandwich / Huli Beef Sandwich with Au Jus

Bulgogi Wrap

Lobster Roll
Chicken & Pork Gumbo

The Chicken & Pork Gumbo, inspired by Chef Elmer Guzman, was my fave.  The best part - you can buy it frozen so you can take it home and enjoy it later!

I also really enjoyed the Okonomiyaki Dog, the Huli Cheesesteak Sandwich, and Huli Beef Sandwich with Au Jus - (one of the most popular dishes; the beef in the sandwiches takes 2 days to make!).

Other noteworthy items include new poi and sweet & spicy malasadas (recipes by Michele Fusato of Mignardise, a chocolate mousse crepe cake (15 layers!) made by alumni, but inspired by Chef Ronnie Nasuti, Jumbo Smoked Turkey Legs, Kinder's BBQ Ribs, Chicken Curry, and Lobster Bisque with Grilled Cheese.

See you at the fair!
