Recently-Opened in Kaneohe: Cafe Kalawe

Some (okay, most) mornings, I just don't want to make breakfast, and over the weekend, instead of making breakfast, we took a drive to the Windward side to eat breakfast at the recently-opened Cafe Kalawe.

Banana Pancakes

Kahuwai Fried Rice

Fried Rice

Hapa Moco

Omelette

Saimin
There's never a bad time for saimin - even at breakfast, so I went for a nice, small bowl of saimin.

I also ordered some Kahuwai Fried Rice on the side, which consisted of SPAM, ham, Portuguese sausage, eggs, and onions.  It was quite tasty!

The Hapa Moco included one hamburger patty and one corned beef hash patty.

You can order your omelette with a choice of vegetables and meats.  My middle son opted for bacon, corned beef hash, and mushrooms.  He also opted for fried rice for an extra charge.

The pancakes were huge, and come in original, blueberry, or banana.

Overall the food was good - local-style comfort food.  Prices were very reasonable.  I must mention, however, how exceptional the service was.  Everyone in the restaurant was just so welcoming, and I really felt as if we were treated like family.

That outstanding service alone is enough to get me to return.
