Pupus, Cocktails, and Brunch at Herringbone

In a 24-hour period I went to Herringbone Waikiki twice - once for pupus and cocktails, and then again for brunch the very next morning!

Kiss My Bubbles
I had the Kiss My Bubbles cocktail - Belvedere vodka, strawberry, vanilla, aloe vera, lime, cane sugar, and sparkling wine.  I loved it!

Buffalo Octopus

Boardwalk Fries

Bok Choy & Mushroom
I really liked the fries, which were served with Old Bay seasoning and a malt vinegar aioli. I couldn't stop eating them!

I was excited to finally try the Buffalo Octopus, which had a nice kick to it.

The Bok Choy & Mushrooms were tossed in an island vinaigrette and served with crispy taro.

My friends and I stayed until closing, and the next morning I went back to Herringbone for Brunch!

Garlic Shrimp & Grits

Biscuits & Pono Pork Gravy

California Burrito

Okinawan Sweet Potato Hash
I couldn't wait to try the Garlic Shrimp & Grits, which I heard so many people rave about. I enjoyed it, and my friend thought the flavors were really good, especially the curry, but was quick to point out that the shrimp was overcooked.

The California Burrito was stuffed with eggs, carne asada, potatoes, and cheese. It was huge, and I thought it was good (I love Mexican food!).  For my side I opted for the Okinawan Sweet Potato Hash.  The dish was just bursting with color!

My friend ordered the Biscuits & Pono Pork Gravy - homemade buttermilk biscuits, black pepper pork gravy, and porchetta. I had tried that dish during a brunch event and it was one of my faves, however my friend thought that although the pork was tasty, it was a little dry, and would have preferred a fattier, more succulent cut.

I had the same server for both visits, and service was great both times.

Herringbone is definitely one of my new favorite restaurants on the island!
