Waikiki Yokocho Celebrates 1-Year Anniversary!

A year after introducing Hawaii’s first authentic gourmet Japanese food hall, Waikiki Yokocho celebrates its anniversary in style, with a three-day celebration starting Dec. 1st. The festivities start at 11 a.m. each day, and will kick off with 50 percent off the menu at restaurants on Friday, and continues with live entertainment, photos on family day with Santa, $1.99 beer specials at selected restaurants and more, over the rest of the weekend.

On Friday, Dec. 1st, enjoy 50 percent off at Waikiki Yokocho spots (some restrictions apply), from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and $1.99 beers at Nomu and Umami Teppan Kingyo all weekend long. Waikiki Yokocho, nestled on the lower level of Waikiki Shopping Plaza, features many authentic Japanese restaurants, designed to evoke the street dining experience in Japan.

The celebration continues on Saturday, Dec. 2nd, with live entertainment, fun activities, beer specials and a Suntory Q&A session at Nomu at 4 p.m.

Bring the whole family to Waikiki Yokocho on Sunday, Dec. 3rd, for more live entertainment as guests of all ages can get into the holiday spirit and take photos with Santa Claus starting at 3 p.m. A variety of restaurants at Waikiki Yokocho makes it an ideal destination for families to dine and get dessert. In fact, the first 100 kids under 12 can also enjoy a free scoop of ice cream at Nomu, so come early.

Bringing an authentic, Japanese street dining experience to Hawaii was a dream come true for Frank Clark, CEO of Waikiki Yokocho. “Yokocho” means “alley” and the small restaurants grouped together gives visitors a chance to easily discover the flavors of Japan, right in the heart of Waikiki.

“I love Japan, especially the beautiful experience of finding new foods and drinks, as you walk down a street. We brought that feeling here, at Waikiki Yokocho, with a variety of restaurants, many the first of their kind in Hawaii,” Clark said. “Our anniversary is the perfect time to visit our yokocho, where you can discover something new just around the corner.”

Self parking for the anniversary celebration will be available at the Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach (349 Seaside Ave). Customers will receive a 2-hour complimentary validation, with a same day, minimum purchase receipt from a Waikiki Yokocho restaurant.
