Visit Tokyo: Kawaii Monster Cafe

While in Harajuku, we had a really fun dining experience at Kawaii Monster Cafe.

There was a 500 yen entrance fee, and because it was Spring Vacation, only a special set menu was being offered. Ranging from 2000 yen to 2600 yen, the meals included a salad, entree, drink, and dessert. Yes, pretty pricey, especially since the kids had to order from the same menu, but we knew we were also paying for a unique experience.

As soon as you step in, it's like walking into some kind of wonderland. You immediately see a huge "Sweets Go Round" spinning cake / stage, and the restaurant is divided into 4 colorful, dazzling, and whimsical areas: Mushroom Disco, Milk Stand, Bar Experiment, and Mel-Tea Room.

Even the restrooms are decked out!

Monster Girls are there to greet guests and for photo ops.

We opted to sit in the Mushroom Disco area.

It took a while for us to realize that to place your order you press a buzzer at the table to call your server.

I thought the Teriyaki Chicken Bowl was yummy (and was thankful that the soft egg was served separately); the burger was a chicken sandwich, which my husband enjoyed.  Two of my boys didn't really care for the pasta, although it was very beautiful!  The dishes were definitely kawaii!

We upgraded one of the drinks, as well as two of the desserts,

At certain times of the day, the Monster Girls perform on the Sweets Go Round.  You can buy a lollipop for 500 yen to get a chance to go on the Sweets Go Round and take photos with the Monster Girls, but we were fine just watching from the floor and taking photos of them on the stage versus with them on the stage.

A visit to Kawaii Monster Cafe is definitely a fun experience!
