Surf Lanai's Royal Breakfast Buffet

A few years ago I had breakfast at Surf Lanai at The Royal Hawaiian Hotel, a Luxury Collection Resort, and an a la carte menu was offered.

Last year, the Surf Lanai reintroduced its daily Royal Breakfast Buffet, which offers a variety of Fresh Start offerings and Hot Selections, as well as a choice of a signature entree from The Royal Treatment menu, and I couldn't wait to indulge!

Fresh Start:

Breakfast Cake

Cinnamon Rolls

Croissants

Muffins

Royal Banana Bread

Scones

Assorted Cereals

Assorted Fruit
Kahuku Papaya
Assorted Breads

Exotic Fruit Salad / Scandinavian Smoked Salmon Salad
Mini Muesli

Hot Selections:
Scrambled Eggs
Applewood Smoked Bacon
Chicken Jalapeno Sausage
Grilled Portuguese Sausage

Three Potato Hash Browns

Miso Soup and Garnishes
Waffle Bar
Pipikaula Spinach Breakfast Sandwiches
The Royal Treatment:

Kalua Pork Style Hash - Egg, Hawaiian Chili Pepper Hollandaise

The Royal Loco Moco - Port Wine Braised Beef Short Ribs, One Egg Sunny Up

Crab Omelet - Avocado, Spinach, Mozzarella

Pink Palace Pancakes - Guava Raspberry Shortcake, Balsamic Strawberry Relish, Coconut Kaffir Creme

'The Works' Omelet - Three varieties of Sausage, Onion, Bell Pepper, White Cheddar

I went straight for the savories! I loved the Three Potato Hash Browns as well as the Grilled Portuguese Sausage, and of course, the Applewood Smoked Bacon! I also enjoyed the Banana Bread. It was so easy to get full off of the buffet offerings, but I had to remember to save room for the signature entree.

The Kalua Pork Style Hash (comes with a poached egg, but I opted for scrambled) was my favorite of The Royal Treatment selections. The Hawaiian Chili Pepper Hollandaise really stood out.  I wanted to spread it on everything - the potatoes, the bacon - it was so good!

Of course we had to try the Pink Palace Pancakes. The fluffy pancakes were as yummy as they were pretty!

In addition to the above pictured items, Classic Eggs Benedict is also offered on The Royal Treatment menu.

My kids loved customizing their own waffles at the Waffle Bar, and they really enjoyed the baked goods (especially the Cinnamon Rolls!), which are from the Royal Hawaiian Bakery.

Service was excellent, and although an a la carte menu is still available for breakfast for both adults and children, I'd definitely stick with the Royal Breakfast Buffet again, with all of the delicious sweet and savory options, and Royal Treatment selections.

Cost for the Royal Breakfast Buffet is $38 for adults, and $18 for children (6-12 years old). For guests staying at The Royal Hawaiian, children 12 and under eat free with a paying adult.
