Oriental Chicken

In my cookbook collection are a handful of cookbooks from local school fundraisers.  I don't often make recipes from these cookbooks since there are no photos, and I need photos when I try new recipes, but I do love that there are so many local recipes.

One day I decided to try and make an Oriental Chicken recipe since I had most of the ingredients on hand.

The original recipe called for chicken wings, but I used chicken breasts instead.  The recipe also called for ajinomoto, which I omitted.

The chicken was very tasty, and definitely something I'd make again.

Oriental Chicken

  • 2 T flour
  • 4 T cornstarch
  • 4 T mochiko
  • 4 T sugar
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 2 T shoyu
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into 1" pieces

Directions:
  • Mix all ingredients except chicken.
  • Soak chicken in mixture for at least one hour and fry until golden brown.
