Flying to Vancouver on Air Canada rouge

When we flew to Vancouver from Honolulu in the summer of 2014, we flew on Air Canada. Later that year, Air Canada rouge took over the route.
I was nervous to experience Air Canada rouge on our most recent trip to Vancouver, but we ended up having a great experience.

One of the most obvious differences between Air Canada and Air canada rouge is that there is no onboard in-flight entertainment system.  Instead, passengers need to download the Air Canada app ahead of time, and once onboard, connect to the in-flight Wi-Fi and launch the player entertainment system.  A nice selection of movies and TV shows were available to watch.

There were outlets to power your devices beneath the seat in front of you.

Soft drinks were served complimentary twice during the flight, and a variety of snacks and meals could be purchased.

I've read numerous complaints about the uncomfortable seats, and to me, the seats weren't any less comfortable than other airlines I've flown on in economy.

As far as on-time performance, going out to Vancouver, the in-bound flight was late, and there was a maintenance issue with one of the lavatories, so we departed several minutes late.  However, we arrived on-time in Vancouver.

Our return back to Honolulu departed early, but because of very strong head winds, we arrived a few minutes late.

Service at the airports was great, and service in-flight was overall good.
