Filament Hospitality (www.filamenthospitality.com) - a San Francisco-based hospitality management company - is thrilled to announce the upcoming redesign of Oahu’s Coconut Waikiki Hotel (www.coconutwaikikihotel.com), which will be completed in August 2016. Renowned for their creativity and deep industry experience,

Filament Hospitality has a rapidly growing portfolio with 16 active hotel projects and numerous debuts slated for later this year and 2017.

One of Filament’s first priorities, following their recent management takeover of Coconut was to engage award-winning San Francisco-based designer Anthony Laurino, who also designed sister property Shoreline Hotel Waikiki managed by Filament. Laurino’s impressive portfolio includes Hotel Tomo and Yosemite’s Rush Creek Lodge.

The 81-room Coconut Waikiki Hotel is a colorful and contemporary property, just blocks from the famed Waikiki Beach. An inviting island playground situated on Oahu’s vibrant South Shore, Coconut features bright, spacious rooms, which cater to travelers who are looking for a more meaningful and boutique Waikiki experience. The hotel has an intimate pool area with a wrap-around deck, a business center and a 24-hour fitness center.

Laurino has conceptualized an exciting refresh for Coconut, with a design reflective of nature’s elements. The new look will embrace a clean and neutral background palette with accents of bold colors, mixed with natural woods and relaxing fabrics.

Spacious guestrooms will be light and refreshing with splashes of color, layered with natural textures and organic patterned fabrics. Inspired by the proximity to the beach, artwork features large colorful graphic illustrations of the ocean and photographs of underwater life. The open and airy lobby reflects Coconut’s modern island style with a mix of comfy lounge seating and two large communal tables. There will also be a playroom that both kids and adults can enjoy filled with board games, puzzles, and local literature. Surrounded by lush landscape and large palm trees, the pool area is also being reimagined with an outdoor patio and a lively putting green, influenced by the neighboring golf course.
