MAC 24/7 Waikiki's New Menu Items

MAC 24/7 Waikiki is a family-favorite.  Last year our family experienced a great breakfast there, and a few years before we tried the famous MAC Daddy Pancakes.

Led by Chef James Aptakin, MAC 24/7 is a popular spot not only for breakfast, but also for late-night eats and Happy Hour.

Chef James infuses his cooking with influences from his upbringing, as well as those of his training, to create innovative dishes that have garnered him, as well as MAC 24/7, numerous awards and accolades.  His talents have even won him the Gold in the Food Network Challenge Big Bash Caterers!

I've also had the pleasure of tasting Chef James' culinary creations at different events throughout the island, so I was eager to try out his new menu items last night at a media tasting.

Thai Grilled Kalbi Steak Salad ($17)
The beautiful Thai Grilled Kalbi Steak Salad consisted of Nalo Greens and Iceberg Lettuce, Thai Basil, Mint, Hauula Tomato, Locally-Grown Papaya, Cubed Avocado, Crushed Peanuts, Fried Shallots, Cucumber, Cilantro, Sesame Seeds, and a Thai Lime Vinaigrette.  The Steak was tender and the Vinaigrette really helped to pull all of the components together.
Hawaiian Moonfish Tacos ($17)
Flour Tortillas were filled with locally-caught Grilled Opah, Roasted Pepper Citrus Aioli, Cilantro-Lime Tequila Creme Fraiche, Mango Salsa.  The Opah was perfectly cooked, and the Mango Salsa gave a nice texture and flavor to the tacos.

BBQ Kalua Pulled Pork Sandwich ($15)
This very delicious sandwich was made with Kalua Pork in a Jack Daniels Sofrito BBQ Sauce topped on a Housemade Cheddar Honey Jalapeno Roll, which gave the sandwich a nice kick.
Kona Lobster and North Shore Shrimp BLT ($20)
This BLT was one of my faves - a fresh baked French Roll was stuffed with Applewood Bacon, Nalo Greens, Hauula Tomato, Kona Lobster, North Shore Shrimp, and Wasabi Aioli.  I love a good BLT, and the Lobster, Shrimp, and Wasabi Aioli really took it to the next level.
Hawaiian Seafood Angel Hair Pomodoro ($22)
Hawaiian Mixed Seafood was tossed with Angel Hair and topped with Shave Parmesan Reggiano to create a hearty, classic dish that was really tasty.
BBQ Kalua Pulled Pork Eggs Benedict ($16)
I am a huge breakfast fan, so I really enjoyed the Eggs Benedict.  The flavorful Kalua Pulled Pork in a Jack Daniels Sofrito BBQ Sauce (the same kind of pork used in the Sandwich above), was topped with a Honey Jalapeno Hollandaise, Pickled Onions, and Smoked Paprika.  I thought the Hollandaise Sauce really made the dish shine!
Housemade Biscuits & Gravy ($15)
Because I love breakfast foods, the Housemade Biscuits & Gravy was my favorite dish of the evening.  The Biscuits by themselves were fantastic, but smothered in Portuguese Sausage Country Gravy and topped with Eggs, it was simply amazing.  The ultimate comfort-food dish!
Grilled, Locally Grown Apple-Banana Cobbler ($9)
The crunchy Cobbler was delightful with the Vanilla Bean Ice Cream and Salted Caramel!

Whether you're hungry for breakfast at 7am or 7pm, want to sip on cocktails while enjoying live music (nightly from 6pm to 9pm), or want to indulge in cocktails during one of four Happy Hours, be sure to check out MAC 24/7 for a fantastic menu of eats and drinks!
