Beachside Dining at Ocean House Waikiki

On the first night of our Waikiki staycation at the Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort, we had dinner at Ocean House Waikiki, which is located beachside, lobby level.

We were seated in the charming private dining area, where we had spectacular views of the ocean.
With such a beautiful ambience, we knew we would be in for a fantastic dinner.

I ordered the Mahi for dinner.  It was grilled with olive oil, lemon, and garlic, and accompanied by a colorful pineapple and white and wild rice blend, which was topped with a strawberry, lychee, pineapple and papaya salsa.  I thought the fish was a bit under-seasoned, but when I poured on some white fish sauce that was given to my son for his Mahi (since they didn't have tartar sauce), it made a huge difference.  The white sauce transformed the dish, and I ended up eating all of the fish.

My husband took advantage of the Sunset Special - Slow Roasted Hawaiian Sea Salt Black Angus Prime Rib for just $22.95 (5pm-6pm daily, must be seated by 6pm).  The Prime Rib was served with Maui Onion Mashed Potatoes and a Fresh Thyme Infused Au Jus, and my husband loved everything.

Keiki menus are available, but only offer an entree.  Fortunately, all of my kids found something they wanted to eat on the menu.  My middle son ate all of his Mahi, the Linguine was a generous portion which my oldest couldn't finish, and the Chicken that my youngest ordered was flavorful.

Of course no dinner is complete without dessert, and we were surprised with not one, not two, but THREE complimentary desserts!

When our server asked if we were celebrating anything, my husband mentioned that my birthday was the next day, so I was given a birthday Panna Cotta.  Panna Cotta is not something I'd usually pick for dessert, but this Panna Cotta was very delicious.  It was light, sweet and creamy.

And because it was Mother's Day weekend, we were given two Chocolate Lava Flow desserts, ensuring that our family of 5 had enough to share.  The chocolate chip fudge cake, combined with the vanilla bean ice cream, was perfection.

Service throughout our entire dinner was excellent.  The staff was friendly, attentive, and really exuded aloha.  Three different staff members offered to take a family photo whenever I took my phone out to take photos of the food or scenery.

Prices are on the high side, but the wonderful service, picturesque views, and great food are reasons why I'm looking forward to dining there again in the future.
