L&L Hawaiian BBQ at University of Hawaii at Manoa (Lower Campus)

L&L Hawaiian BBQ is one, if not, the biggest plate lunch chain in the nation.  What started out as a small hole in the wall restaurant on Liliha Street in Kalihi is now found not just on Oahu, but in 10 states on the mainland and also abroad in countries like New Zealand, Guam, Japan, China, and Indonesia.

Here on Oahu, there are 39 locations spread out on the island, two of which are located on the University of Hawaii campus. If you think about it,the University campus is an ideal location for this franchise since they are known for generous portions and reasonable prices.

I recently visited the location on lower campus in the Physical Education complex.  They are located on the makai side of the complex, second floor, overlooking the Duke Kahanamoku Pool.

My favorite plate lunch at L&L is the chicken katsu.  It's one of the most unhealthy item on their menu, but it's really good.  I also like their burgers, saimin, french fries, and BBQ chicken plates.
