Visit Hawaii Island: Breakfast at `ULU Ocean Grill

Both mornings during our stay at the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai at Historic Ka`upulehu we enjoyed a hosted breakfast at `ULU Ocean Grill.  The restaurant offers an a la carte breakfast menu, as well as a breakfast buffet.

There are three options for the breakfast buffet - the Hualalai Continental Buffet (pastries, fruit, cereal), the Big Island Buffet (includes an omelet station, hot entrees), and the Ultimate Buffet (includes a Bloody Mary, Mimosa, or 100% Kona Coffee).

There is a nice variety of offerings in the buffet - granola bar, oatmeal, miso soup, breakfast meats, pancake station (on weekends only), and even a gluten-free corner!

Keiki Chocolate Chip Pancakes (from a la carte keiki menu)

Each morning I had the Big Island Buffet, and I indulged in customized omelets, bacon, breakfast potatoes, and fried rice. I also tried different pastries and baked goods.  One morning as I was walking back to our table with a plate of bread pudding, one of the staff members said I should drizzle on some of the local honey which they were sampling that morning.  It sure was yummy!

Two of my kids had chocolate chip pancakes from the keiki menu on the first day, but after seeing the fun pancake my youngest son was eating from the pancake station, they asked to order the buffet as well the next day (kids four and under can enjoy a complimentary meal with the purchase of an adult entree).

Service was excellent during both breakfasts. Our servers, Noi on the first day and Ivonne on the second, were awesome, as well as everyone else we encountered.

When Chef Nalu's first attempt at a happy face pancake failed (it ended up looking like a skull, which my son actually liked because it reminded him of an attraction in California), he made another one (pictured above) to ensure my son got a happy face pancake!

And when my oldest son noticed that there were no oranges on the buffet, a server brought him a bowl of sliced oranges.

Talk about service!

The food options were plentiful and delicious, the service was fantastic, and the views were once again gorgeous.

Breakfast at `ULU Ocean Grill was the perfect way to start each day during our stay at the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai!
