Visit Big Island: Kanaka Culinary Explosion

The Kanaka Culinary Explosion took place earlier this month. Attendees were not only fed numerous samples showcasing the versatility of local produce, but they were also offered products, knowledge, and resources to help themselves live more self-sustainable lives, relying less on imported ingredients and incorporating more locally-grown and -crafted products into their daily lives.

There were 3 chef demos, and Naʻau was fortunate to have participated (Chef Brian made a heʻe and palula stew).
The event also gave culinary students experience and educational opportunities in working with the ingredients, vendors, and chefs at the event.

Kanaka Culinary Explosion is an amazing event that sets up Hawai'i's future culinarians for success while empowering communities.
