Okdongsik - New Korean Restaurant in Sky Honolulu

Dweji Gomtang

Okdongsik is a restaurant chain that was founded in Seoul, Korea in 2017. The next year it was recognized in the MICHELIN Guide Bib Gourmand. Today it has locations in Tokyo, New York, Paris and now Honolulu. The restaurant specializes in Dweji Gomtang, a traditional Korean comfort soup. Okdongsik's version features a unique signature clean and clear broth achieved by slow-simmering pork shoulders, green onions, radish, onions, garlic, ginger, and peppercorns.

Also on the limited menu is donkatsu and cabbage kimchi noodles. The donkatsu is a generous serving of pork loin cutlet served with cabbage salad, pickled pepper, soup and rice and limited to 40 servings daily. I really enjoyed this dish. The meal was simple and tasty.

The restaurant is located in Sky Ala Moana facing Makaloa Street and will validate parking. Open for lunch and dinner Tuesday through Sunday and closed Mondays. Make a reservation on resy.com.
