Visit Hilo: Kawamoto Store

We needed to pick up breakfast on the go at 6:30 am in Hilo, so we stopped at Kawamoto Store. They are known for serving authentic okzuya and Hawaiian food for over 70 years! This was my first time here and I felt like a kid in a candy store - the trays were all filled with freshly made local favorites.

You can order preset bentos, or create your own plate. We opted to create our own plate!

We also picked up a bag of cookies to bring back as omiyage.

We didn't buy much because we were so full from last night's dinner (and we would be eating a lot more throughout the day), but what we did try (spam musubi, noodles, shrimp tempura, hot dog) were all delicious!!

If you're planning to visit Hilo, be sure to put Kawamoto Store on your list of places to try!
