Visit Kaua`i: Taro Ko Factory

On a previous visit to Kaua`i, @hasian_val and I swung by Taro Ko Factory to get some taro chips, but they were closed.  I've since heard that it's "hit or miss," - if the door is open, they're open.  If the door is closed, they're closed.  There are no standard hours, and sometimes you can't even buy any chips if they are open, as they may only have chips for those who called in orders.

Despite all that I heard, we decided to try our luck and make an impromptu stop during our visit in May.

And luck was on our side, as the door was open, and there were still some bags of chips for walk-ins to buy.

In addition to Taro Chips, they also offer Okinawan Sweet Potato Chips (Regular or Li Hing), and Potato Chips (Regular or Li Hing).

The Taro Chips were seasoned with garlic salt.  They were crispy, fresh, and easily something that would be great omiyage.

If you're in the area, swing by and try your luck!
