Kiku-Ya Japanese Restaurant

Kiku-ya Japanese Restaurant is one of a handful of Japanese restaurants in Kaneohe town. They recently relocated to Windward Mall, offering both dine-in and take-out service. Note - this restaurant is different from "Kikuya" which is located in Kalihi.

One Saturday evening we were craving Japanese food, so we decided to give Kiku-Ya's new location a try.

I ordered the fish tempura Teishoku, which came with a generous portion of crispy fried fish and vegetable tempura.

The hubby tried the Dinner Special consisting of sashimi, shrimp tempura, and fried Saba.

He liked everything about this plate - the thickness of the tempura batter (not too thick or greasy), and the flavoring of the saba.

Considering it was a holiday weekend, our order was prepared rather quickly and was ready for us when we arrived to pick it up.  We will definitely return to Kiku-Ya when we have a craving for Japanese food in Kaneohe!
