Visit Hilo: Scicchitano's Pizzeria

Recently-opened in Hilo is Scicchitano's Pizzeria.

After trying unsuccessfully to call in an order one evening (I kept getting a message that the voice mailbox was not set-up to accept messages), I called early the next day to schedule a pick-up that same evening.

Upon arrival at pick-up time, my order was not ready (one of the pizzas was forgotten about, so they had to put it together, and I had to wait nearly 20 minutes for it).

Caesar

The Caesar was good, but the croutons were too hard - I could barely bite through some of the pieces.

White Pizza
Chicken Pesto

The pizza toppings were really tasty (my fave of the two was the Chicken Pesto - I love pesto!), but the crust was undercooked. There wasn't a nice char as expected.

A friend who has ordered from Scicchitano's before (who was coincidentally in line in front of me and also said he couldn't get through via phone to order), said that there usually is a nice char and the crust is cooked well. He also said he custom orders a pizza, so I'll probably do that the next time.

I definitely look forward to giving them another chance to see just how good the crust can be, and maybe next time I'll try some wings as well!
