Jolene's Market in Chinatown was initially known for having one of the best (and reasonably priced!) lobster rolls, but they have expanded so much since then! Now, they have THREE locations, and they have added many more savory items to their menu - fried chicken sandwiches, cheesemelts, soups, plates, salads, loaded waffle fries, and even milk tea. The Chinatown location has a happy hour menu everyday from 2-5 pm that includes discounted beer pitchers and cocktails and select menu items. Tables are available for dine-in customers and are nicely spread out.
I stopped by Jolene's one weekday afternoon at around 3 pm to pick up a sandwich to-go. Once I saw "pastrami melt" listed as a daily special, I didn't even bother to look at the regular or happy hour menu. I ordered the pastrami melt to-go, and was given a buzzer to hold on to while I waited for my sandwich to be prepared (p.s. they do have an online ordering system and curbside service, which I will take advantage of next time around!).
While I was waiting for my sandwich, I walked over to Slices by HB Baking, which is located in Jolene's. HB Baking features handmade ice cream pies of various flavors. You can buy each flavor by the slice, a whole pie with 2 flavors, a whole pie with one flavor, or a whole pie consisting of a slice of each flavor. My favorite is the strawberry short cake.
