Celebrate Labor-Day-at-Home-Weekend with Panda General Store

With beaches and parks closed and gatherings restricted to households only, Labor Day weekend will be different this year during O‘ahu’s second stay-at-home order. However, that doesn’t mean families and households can’t celebrate the unofficial end of summer with at-home barbeques and delectable meals.

Panda General Store, O‘ahu’s newest online grocery delivery service, is celebrating its grand opening with an online storewide sale of up to 25 percent off its premium seafoods, meats and locally-made products and sets from Sept. 4-6, encouraging kama‘āina to celebrate the long holiday weekend safely at home this year.

Panda General Store previously launched during the state’s first stay-at-home order with just five different pre-packed grocery boxes and two optional add-ons. Since then, it has expanded its online grocery store inventory to more than 1,000 different items and continues to grow, offering consumers direct access to local businesses without having to leave home. With partnerships with purveyors, businesses and distributors such as Ham Produce & Seafood, Mari’s Gardens and Sun Noodle, customers can order the freshest produce, fruits, seafood, meats and other grocery items for as early as same-day service directly to their homes.

“We’ve come a long way since our launch and have grown our business significantly to accommodate the needs of our kama‘āina, and we thank them for their support during these difficult times as we continue to fight the spread of COVID-19,” said Evan Asato, Partner of Panda General Store. “This is our way of thanking our customers and encouraging them to celebrate the long holiday weekend safely at home and let us do the work by delivering their groceries to them.”

Panda General Store’s grand opening sale starts at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 4 until 11:59 p.m. and continues throughout the weekend on Saturday, Sept. 5 and Sunday, Sept. 6. Specials include up to 25 percent off premium seafood items on Friday such as King Crab Legs, Snow Crab Legs, Lobster Tails, Shrimp and Oysters; up to 25 percent off on all Wagyu items on Saturday such as Striploin, Ribeye, Burger Patties; and discounts on locally-made items and box sets from partners such as Ulu Mana, ONDA, UBAE, La Tour Bakeshop and Sun Noodle.

Additionally, the first 20 customers on each of the three sale days will receive a free bag of Li Hing Lemon Peel Gushers, which is sold exclusively at Panda General Store. Customers can use promo code “PGS” at check out to redeem their free gift.

Panda General Store is the brainchild of three partners and friends who worked in different industries that were impacted by COVID-19. Asato, Andrew Tran and Eric Chu banded together during Hawai‘i’s stay-at-home order and developed a new business venture after realizing there was a void in the market that needed something to help boost Hawaii’s economy.
